I originally posted this on January 17, 2025, the day before the Presidential Inauguration. I’m reposting today in honor of No Kings Day, a day of free expression and patriotic protest against the authoritarian tenor of our dishonorable government.

I haven’t updated the post with new dark examples to prove its thesis, but every day provides further proof of this broken man’s ‘perfection’ — including today’s outrageous parade which will be robustly rejected not only by a majority of Americans but by the weather itself. Let’s revisit — with examples from Breaking Bad, the Sopranos, Mad Men and others—how our disturbed president embodies a perfect character in the world of episodic storytelling.

How is Donald Perfect?

To me, Donald is a racist rapist, an insecure incel who uses old and new methods of propaganda and opportunism to win hearts and minds. I wish his followers were so few we could drown them - metaphorically of course - in Grover Norquist’s bathtub, but there are too many for me to blithely ignore. I sincerely empathize with people struggling helplessly within broken systems. I do not hate people who voted for him, I just wish there were fewer people suffering in a way that led them to vote for a man who would be better as a fictional character than a flesh and blood leader. But if he were a fictional character, particularly a TV character, he’d be about as perfect as any ever created. Let’s break it down.

Consistent Yet Surprising
