“Bill Gullo seems to know just the right questions to ask me about character and plot to help spur on my own writing, while also delivering very concrete ideas for specific story points and dialogue. I have found his own writing to be specific, emotional, and effective whether it is based on an original idea of his or as a rewriter of my own projects.” — Bart Freundlich, Writer/Director (After the Wedding, Myth of Fingerprints)
NYC SCREENWRITERS & FILMMAKERS
I hearby announce to you and / or remind you that I’ve invented a new experience for screenwriters and writers who want to pivot to screenwriting!
STORYTELLERS SCREENWRITING LAB will run on Six Saturdays from 4/26-6/6, it will be a hoot and a half, you’ll learn a shit load, and write even more than that. Plus I’m giving a fat discount and it’s coming soon.
25% Off for Free & Paid Subscribers (Only 6 Spots Left!)
In my post Selling Lollipops in Bathtubs, I expressed my distaste for advertising, but since Big Tech and the Powers That Be have turned us all into commercial vessels, I’ll join the fun by offering a 25% Discount to all subscribers. That means the lab is about $615 for six 3-hour sessions that will be the deepest dive into the writing process since E.B. White entered Strunk’s classroom at Cornell.
Be In-Person with me, Bill Gullo
In person experiences are rare now that virtual workshops and classes are possible. Storytellers Screenwriting Lab is stubbornly IN-PERSON, a six-session lab for screenwriters ready to incubate, develop, write or even revise a feature screenplay. On three of the six dates, industry guests join the conversation, including literary manager Brennan O’Donnell (Untitled Entertainment).
Assuming I enjoy the experience (other than the advertising), the idea is to gradually grow this into a lab in the vein of Stowe Story Lab and select people based on submissions. For this first year, I’ll circle the wagons with the first 10 people and guide them through a process of learning, writing, and sharing.
“I want Storytellers Screenwriting Lab to be the most hands-on, productive, and joyful writing experience of your life.” —me, Bill Gullo
Writing may be a solitary experience, but the people doing it professionally are not doing it alone. They have community and collaborators both of which provide invaluable support and guidance as they navigate the writing process. With that, I leave you in hopes that you are enjoying at least one element of your life.
With Love,
me, Bill Gullo
